Thanks to HER LIFE Magazine for the incredible editorial on me and hercityguide.com! I’m not a fan of the camera so the “photo shoot” was a little intimidating so I am glad my Goldendoodle Chief shared the spotlight with me.
To read the full article on how the business got started and all the details of the biz, pick up the December issue of my favorite local magazine, HER LIFE, at over 2700 locations citywide or read it online at herlifemagazine.com.!

Even though the stock market is dropping daily (I can barely stand to watch CNBC any longer!), it’s still the HOLIDAY SEASON. So even if you are cutting back this year, you still have to be a few things for your loved ones. We partnered with our friends at Mix 93.3, Star 102, KFKF and Q104 to bring Kansas City “The Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide”. You can shop online or just online window shop for ideas for holiday gifts and visit the stores in person. Our goal is to support KC Businesses so do your part too this season and buy local. We have lots of discounted gift cards to great restaurants, spas and more! Check it out here.

We enjoyed date night with 2 other couples on Saturday night and went to a new recommendation - TASTE in Downtown Overland Park. We were all extremely impressed with the food & the concept of Owner and Executive Chef Jonathon Dallen. There are over 25 “First Tastes” to choose from or you can have the chef prepare a Tasting Sampler of 6 items from the menu. We tried 2 of the samplers to start and some of the items were so good, we had to order a full plate of a few of the items My personal favorite was the Crispy Shitake Rangoon Phyllo Pillow with sweet mushroom soy sauce! If you like cheese, the cheese platter was delicious and don’t forget to order of the sweet potato fries!
The atmotsphere is cozy and comfortable for a date or a night out with friends. On Saturday night they had a small jazz band playing. The tasting plates range from $5-$12 and the entrees were well priced from $16 and up. Hoping that TASTE can help revitalize Downtown Overland Park but I’d definitely make the trip again, if not just to get a few plates of the Shitake Rangoons!
You can check out their menu here .

Sometimes I feel like before I started hercityguide.com I must have lived in a cave. I thought I new about what the city had to offer but now I realize I didn’t know much. One of the best things I’ve learned is all the opportunities to support the amazing not-for-profit organizations. Here’s one for all you shoppers!
Safe Place for Kids is excited to present a two day showcase of the unique gifts, home décor and accessories for those shoppers seeking the latest fashions and trends. All proceeds help build safe places for at risk children in the Kansas City area. Be sure to check out Champagne Jewelers at the event with their exclusive collection of some of my favorite jewelry designers! Other great businesses to shop include:
Ambiance boutique , Farmstead, Silpada, Arbonne , Urban trends, Chic Boutique, Camerons Decor, Molly Jaynes , M Culture, Tres amore boutique , Go Girly, Stadium Boutique, La De Da, Savvy Boutique, Zapedo, Isogenics, First impressions, Catfish & Tator, Pistachio Gifts, Dance Express, Anderson Photography, Sybil K, Shop Girls, Ribbon Chick & Michelle Pacintino Clothing.

I totally was indulged last week when Beth from A Perfect Ten or Twenty came to my home and gave me a massage, manicure and pedicure. Although I don’t pamper myself nearly as much as I’d like to (my husband might disagree!) this was a true treat! I wasn’t sure what to expect from Beth’s Mobile Spa or if I’d like to be at home vs. going to a spa but I was surprised at how convenient it was to be in my own home without the pressure of getting a sitter or driving to an appointment. Ironically, our garage door broke that morning so I had a 4 hour window to be at home during my appointment. Yet another GREAT reason for spa treatments at home!
Besides the convenience (this is PERFECT for Moms with little kids who nap, husbands travel, on bed rest, etc), Beth did an incredible job! I was so relaxed after she left it was hard to get back to work!
A Perfect Ten or Twenty offers the greatest packages, including The Future Mrs., Just the Two of Us, Get Out of the Doghouse, Girls Night In/Out , Little Miss Diva (for the little girls I don’t have!) & Corporate Special Events. You can buy $50 gift cards for A Perfect Ten or Twenty or The The Ultimate Pamper Package on our “Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide” so think luxury AT HOME this season!

It gets to a point where my husband looks at my upper lip and doesn’t say ” you have a mustache” but I know that’s what he’s thinking! Time to get the lip and eyebrows waxed!
I tried a new place today and had a great experience at Rigenerante Day Spa in Leawood (143rd & Kenneth). The spa is quiet and relaxing and even though waxing is never very pleasurable, I relished my time laying down in a quiet room with soothing music and spa aroma. Karen was my esthetician and was meticulous. She re-shaped my brows and did removed the “mustache” without any pain. I can’t ask for much more than that!
Rigenerante also gives new clients a 20% discount services and existing clients a great reward too! Check them out at here.
