Summertime in Kansas City isn't complete until you enjoy an evening under the stars at Starlight Theatre!
This iconic 8,000-seat outdoor theatre in Kansas City's Swope Park has delivered live Broadway entertainment since 1951. One of only three outdoor theatres of its size and type still operational in the U.S., Starlight is annually voted "Favorite Performing Arts Venue" and "Favorite Concert/Live Music Venue" in the KCCVA's Visitors' Choice Awards program.
In 2011, Starlight lives up to its award-winning ways! Six blockbuster Broadway musicals will take the Starlight stage this summer, and a host of top concert artists are also scheduled from spring through early fall.
Included in the Starlight Broadway lineup are: The King and I starring Lou Diamond Phillips (June 6-12), 9 to 5: The Musical (June 21-26), Guys and Dolls (July 12-17), Cinderella (July 25-31), Mamma Mia! (Aug. 2-7) and Xanadu (Aug. 15-21). Single show tickets start as low as $10!
The Starlight concert season will feature: Ray LaMontagne (June 15), Huey Lewis & The News (June 16), Earth Wind & Fire (June 17), Peter Gabriel (June 18), Chelsea Handler (June 19), YES & STYX (July 18), Janet Jackson (Aug. 22), Steely Dan (Aug. 25), Selena Gomez (Sept. 1), Kesha (Sept. 2) and Maroon 5 & Train (Sept. 4).
